To rent with Ochs Rent a Car you must have a valid vehicle insurance policy that has been active for more than 30 days prior to picking up your rental and in the Renters name. This policy must include Comprehesive and Collission Coverage. If you do not have these coverages and just liability you can purchase a plan from us for this coverage. If you do not have any policy you can purchase this from us. If you make a reservation and can not provide any evidence of a valid policy and you do not want to purchase our coverage the cancelation policie still applies and you will be responsible for a cancelation fee.
Drivers must be at least 21 years old to rent a vehicle. Ages 21 to 24 will be required to pay a daily underage fee. What do I need to know?
Drivers must have a valid driver's license.
Drivers must have a valid debit or credit card.
Drivers under the age of 25 may rent a car with a daily underage fee.
Unfortunately, you cannot change the name on an existing reservation. The reservation must be under the name of the primary driver who will be picking up the vehicle. You'll need to cancel the current reservation and make a new one the new driver will need to present their driver's license and credit card at pickup. When renting a vehicle with a temporary driver's license, customers must meet the following requirements:
Validity: The temporary driver's license must be valid for the entire duration of the rental.
Additional Identification: Customers must present either:
A government-issued ID, or
A hard copy of the expired driver's license.
Verification: The rental agency may refuse the temporary driver's license if they cannot verify the customer's identity or the authenticity of the temporary license.
If your driver's license is lost or stolen, you will need to obtain a temporary license or permit issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
This temporary document must be presented to the rental staff at the counter when picking up your vehicle.
No, a mobile or digital driver's license cannot be used for vehicle rental. Customers must present a physical driver's license to be eligible for rental.
No, you cannot rent a vehicle if your driver's license has been suspended. An active and valid driver's license is required to complete the rental process.
Yes, if you find a lower price on a different website for the same vehicle group, pick up and return locations, rental dates and times, booked from the same source country and using the same currency, we will match the price and give you a further 10% off that price when we have verified your claim.
Ochs Rent-A-Car does not currently offer one-way rentals. All vehicles must be returned to the original pickup location either Cape Girardeau or Perryville.
At Ochs Rent-A-Car, we understand that plans can change—and we're here to make the process as smooth as possible. To help us serve all customers efficiently, the following fees apply:
Cancellations: A $150 cancellation fee applies to all canceled reservations.
No-Shows: If you do not cancel and fail to pick up your rental, a $200 no-show fee will be charged.
If you’ve already paid and need to cancel, refunds are typically processed within 5–7 business days. However, depending on your bank or credit card provider, it may take up to 10 business days for the funds to appear in your account.

Debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover.
Yes, you can reserve a rental with a debit card if you meet the following requirements:
Eligible Debit Cards: Debit cards from VISA, MasterCard, Union Pay, and Discover are accepted on the condition that:
Ochs Rent- A-Car Locations Debit Card Requirements:
Make a reservation at least one day in advance
Be at least 25 years old
A valid driver's license
An additional government ID or another Debit or Credit card in the renter's name
Credit Check: A credit check may be performed, and rentals can be declined if credit approval is not secured. This is a soft credit check.
Note: There is an additional deposit of $500 required when using a debit card.
At the time of rental, an authorization hold will be secured on the credit/debit card provided, to cover the estimated rental charges and any additional charges that may be incurred.
These funds will not be available for your use.
We may place an authorization amount of up to US$ 250.00 for credit card and debit card, plus the estimated charges on a customer's card, given certain conditions that will be outlined at time of rental.
When is the Deposit Released?
The deposit is released once the vehicle is returned and the rental agreement is closed. It may take 7-10 business days for the funds to be available in your account, depending on your bank's policies.
At Ochs Rent-A-Car, you have two simple options for refueling your rental:
Self-Refuel Option:
Return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had at pickup, and there’s no extra charge. This is the most cost-effective option for most renters.
Fuel Purchase Option:
If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than it had at pickup, we’ll refuel it for you. A fuel charge plus a service fee will apply.
We recommend topping off the tank before return to avoid additional charges and keep things simple!
Yes! We’re happy to welcome your furry travel companions in our rental vehicles. We just ask that you return the vehicle in clean condition. Excessive pet hair, soiling, or any damage may result in an additional cleaning or repair fee.
